Kermit C. Glines TUNBRIDGE--Kermit C. Glines, 99, died Sunday, April 22, 2007, at his home on the Strafford Road. He was born April 9, 1908, in Tunbridge, the son of John and Lucy (Waterman) Glines. He attended school in Tunbridge and later at South Royalton High School in South Royalton. He worked on the family dairy farm until 1968, when he sold the cows. He later worked as a carpenter with Merrill Whitney of Chelsea and Henry Dodge of South Royalton. He cut and sold wood for many years and continued to do this when he was well over 90 years of age. He received a splitting maul as a gift for his 90th birthday. He had been a member of the Chelsea and South Royalton Area Senior Citizens. He traveled twice to Yellowstone National Park. He enjoyed traveling throughout Vermont promoting and acting in John O'Brien's movies, "Vermont Is for Lovers," "A Man with a Plan," and "Nosey Parker" with his friend and neighbor, Fred Tuttle. He enjoyed deer hunting, trapping, sugaring, doing word searches and taking rides on Sunday afternoons on the back roads with Ralph Howe and his friends. He liked the Boston Red Sox baseball team and watching hockey, RFD TV and cattle auctions on television. He was known for his sharp memory of history of the town and people of Tunbridge. He lived his whole life in the house he was born in until the last three years, when he made his home with his good friends, Bill and Marie Danforth. Survivors include several nieces and nephews, and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Mildred Folsom and Hazel Dodge. Calling hours were held Tuesday, April 24 at the Boardway & Cilley Funeral Home on Main Street in Chelsea. A funeral service was held Wednesday, April 25, at the funeral home with Rev. Gordon Mitchinson officiating. The burial was held immediately following the service at the Village Cemetery in Tunbridge.
