Lena A. Quillia

ROCHESTER—Lena A. Quillia, 82, died Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph.

She was born February 9, 1925, in Rochester, the daughter of Walter and Bernice (Huntington) Severy.

She attended Rochester schools and graduated from Rochester High School in 1943. Following her education, she worked in Rutland for a few years.

She married Raymond Quillia October 27, 1946 in Rochester. They moved to Rutland in 1948 and lived there for a year. They then lived in Georgia, South Carolina, Ohio, Germany, Missouri, and Seoul, South Korea, before returning to Rochester in 1973. They had spent the last 20 winters in Arizona and traveled throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico in their RV for the past 22 years.

She enjoyed playing shuffleboard and had won several championship trophies. She also enjoyed rug hooking and Swedish weaving.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond Quillia of Rochester; two sons, Garth Quillia and his wife Lynne Martin of Barnard and Kent Quillia and his wife Carla of Hartford; a daughter, Lesley Straus and her husband Larry of Rochester; a sister, Iris Bedor of Milton; four grandchildren, Garrett, Brett and Lara Quillia and Lanham Straus; and many nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by two daughters, Gail and Dawn Quillia; five brothers, Cleon, Orel, Walter, Merle and Leslie Severy; and five sisters, Elma Kidder, Reba Drabble, Roxie Hathaway, Eula Harvey and Theo Edwards.

Graveside memorial services will be held at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Rochester at a later date.
