Joyce Tomlinson HAMDEN, CONN.—Joyce E. Tomlinson, 69, died March 28, 2007, after a long illness, surrounded by her family and parish minister. She was born in Stamford, Conn., Nov. 18, 1937 to Doris Blake Thompson of South Royalton, and the late Kenneth J. Thompson. She graduated in 1958 as an R.N. from Gifford Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Randolph. She moved to Hamden, Conn. with her husband and young sons in 1965. In 1969 she accepted a position as R.N. at the Elim Park Baptist Home in Cheshire, eventually becoming Director of Nursing Services there. She retired from that position in 2001. She was a member of the Vermont 251 Club, the Connecticut Genealogical Society, and the Mt. Carmel Congregational Crafts Group. She enjoyed antiques, NASCAR racing, and quilting. Survivors include her mother, Doris Blake Thompson; her husband of 48 years, Harley Tomlinson; her sons, James A. Tomlinson of Prospect, Conn., and David J. Tomlinson and his wife Mary Anne of Cheshire, Conn.; four grandchildren: Robert, Scott, Faith, and Nathan Tomlinson, all of Cheshire; and her brother, Kenneth R. Thompson, of Hyde Park. Calling hours were held Friday March 30 at the Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home in Hamden, Conn. A funeral service took place Saturday, March 31 at the Mt. Carmel Congregational Church.
