Palm Sunday Heart Surgery
For Larocque

Gary Larocque of Randolph received a new heart, via transplant, on Sunday, April 1, at a Boston hospital.

Jeannie Larocque, his sister, reported Monday night that Larocque underwent hours of surgery Sunday evening. He is now being kept sedated in intensive care at Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston, with his wife and three children staying with him.

"He already had two major heart surgeries, so they are going slow," Jeannie Larocque said.

Larocque, who has congestive heart failure, has been at Tufts for two months awaiting a heart transplant.

Jeannie Larocque expressed thanks for all the friends who have reached out to call or write her brother, following a March 1 article in The Herald.

She said her brother—"so excited" but not nervous—called her Sunday, pre-surgery, to tell her he was getting a heart.
