Hot Acoustic Irish Band ‘Lunasa’ Will Play Chandler Music Hall

"The hottest Irish acoustic group on the planet," (according to The Irish Voice) will perform at Randolph’s Chandler Music Hall Wednesday, April 4 at 7:30 p.m.

The five members of Lunasa will bring their collection of guitars, fiddles, double bass, whistles, flutes, Uilleann pipes and a bodhran—along with exceptional musicianship—to electrify the concert hall with their performance.

Named for an ancient Celtic harvest festival in honor of the Irish god Lugh, patron of the arts, Lunasa redefines Irish music by going right to the heart of its rhythms, by letting the music "find its pulse." On top of the upright bass and guitar rhythm section soars burning fiddle, pipes and flute.

Called an "Irish music dream team" (Folk Roots) and "the new Celtic royalty" (Boston Herald), Lunasa made its worldwide recording debut in 1997, and met with instant acclaim. Appearances followed at international festivals across Europe, Japan and Australia, including the Montreux Jazz Festival and a main-stage performance at London’s Guinness Fleadh. In the U.S., they have appeared on CNN, at the Hollywood Bowl and the Chicago Celtic Festival, and at Chandler Music Hall in 2000.

"They bring a fiery, almost rock-like energy to their alluringly complex arrangements," said The Boston Globe and "State-of-the-art Irish music as aggressively infectious as you’ll ever hear," said Dirty Linen. The Chandler crowd in 2000 gave them an extremely enthusiastic standing ovation.

For tickets for this performance call the box office at 728-6464, or email tickets@chandler-arts.org.

The concert is presented by Chandler Center for the Arts and sponsored by Booth Brothers.

During intermission or before the show, visit the Chandler Gallery to enjoy the annual Local Artists Show.
