Braintree’s Town Clerk
Is Moving
Braintree is unexpectedly in need of a new town clerk, effective April 1.

Town Clerk Linda Michalek, elected just over one year ago for a term of three years, is about to move down the road from her present residence. Unfortunately, the move will put her over the line, into Randolph.

"The job is automatically vacated, by law, the minute I move out of town," Michalek said.

She added the "tough decision" to move came up suddenly, when an opportunity to buy the new property arose. Michalek said it all occurred after Town Meeting, 16 days ago.

She had hoped to stay in Braintree, and serve as its town clerk.

"I’m looking for work, at the moment," she said.

Braintree Lister Richard Bowen served as an interim town clerk for the end of 2005 and early 2006, after Cora Benoir’s resignation, and until Michalek’s election.

Bowen has already indicated that he is not willing to serve again as an interim clerk, Michalek said.

Those interested in applying for the job should contact Administrative Assistant Holly Jarvis at 728-9787.
