Reiki Isn’t
A False Hope

I am responding to The Herald letter, titled, "Reiki Claims Are Disturbing" by Donna Brown printed February 7, which in her words declares Reiki as a dangerous practice, sickness of false hope, almost like witchcraft.

One point I would like to make is that Reiki is a specific modality much different from craniosacral therapy, pediatric craniosacral therapy, and massage therapy. I would also like to say that people choose careers that pertain to their gifts or skill, however, much like being a mechanic, plumber, carpenter, nurse, doctor, and yes, even Reiki practitioners, there is a required learning process, and ultimately certification.

Donna, your bigotry makes you the fool for assuming so much with so little knowledge. Any health practitioner knows that an individual’s hope is a primary precursor to their client’s recovery. Your definition of false hope, is thankfully, not universal. I am really happy that we live in a hopeful world where neighbors do help neighbors and healers can help people, and more importantly where a disturbed person resorts to burning paper and not other humans.
