It was Senior Recognition at the Hornet’s Nest on Saturday, Feb. 17 when Whitcomb welcomed the Blue Mountain Bucks for their final contest of the season. Five Hornet players, Mike Ennis, Cody Griffin, Scott Killian, Nathan Tipton and Brian Ward and team manager Maya Robinson were recognized. Unfortunately for the Hornets that was the highlight of the evening, as the Bucks handed Whitcomb a big loss, 86-48. Griffin led Whitcomb with 18 points followed by Ward with 15, which included two 3-pointers. Whitcomb lost to Chelsea away Monday, Feb. 19, 56 to 47. Whitcomb stayed with Chelsea through two and one-half periods before Chelsea picked up steam and pulled ahead of the Hornets and stayed there to earn the victory. Ward led the Hornets with 14 points and Griffin had 13. The Hornets finished the basketball season on the road against the Rochester Rockets and fell to their hosts, 52 to 35. Griffin had 10 points in the outing. ____________ |
