Lucy A. Kaplan

BETHEL—Lucy a. Kaplan, 95, of Bethel, died Thursday afternoon, February 22, 2007 at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph.

She was born February 15, 1912 in Meriden, Conn.; the daughter of Silvio and Angelina (Bassi) Rinaldini. She married Noah Kaplan in Meriden in 1946, where they operated Kaplan’s Townhouse. They lived there until moving to Cheshire, Conn. in 2000, then to Bethel in 2003.

She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Meriden, and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, bird watching, and dancing.

Survivors include her son, Richard L. Kaplan of Bethel; daughter, Noreen Lotko of Plainville, Conn.; brother, Frank Renald of Albuquerque, N.M.; sister, Anito Carofina and Caroline Batura, both of Florida; one grandson and one great-grandson.

She was predeceased by her husband, her brother, Guido Rinaldini; and sisters, Mary Rogoz and Primetta Bianconi.

Calling hours were held Sunday, February 15 at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph. A prayer service was led by Rev. Peter O’Leary of St. Anthony’s Church of Bethel. A memorial mass will be held Saturday, March 3 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Meriden, Conn.

Local arrangements were under the direction of the Day Funeral Home of Randolph.
