Stockbridge Town Meeting: Stockbridge voters will gather Tuesday, March 6 at 9 a.m. at the Stockbridge Central School to have their say on a variety of town issues. Among the officers to be elected include a moderator, selectboard member, lister, auditor, agent to convey real estate, and an agent to prosecute and defend suits. Also: a grand juror, first constable, second constable, trustee of public funds, cemetery commissioner, a Memorial Day chairman, and a collector of delinquent taxes. The big item, as always, will be the town budget. This year’s recommended figure is $657,960. Article 8 also has to do with money, since it asks for approval of a sum of $11,532 to support the activities of 14 different agencies and organizations, including the Quin-town Senior Center, the Belcher Library, the Park House, the Stockbridge-Gaysville Historical Society, and the Peavine Trail Preservation Committee. Article 9 asks voters to approve hiring the Windsor County Sheriff for a one-year contract beginning March 15 of this year, at an estimated cost of $17,500. Another item of interest is Article 10, in which town voters will be asked to give the Stockbridge Meeting House Society approval to place a leach field on the town common. ____________ |
