The Chelsea boys celebrated their senior night last Friday the 16th as they hosted Concord. Before the game Chelsea’s seven seniors were recognized; Zeb Allen, Jesse Blondin, Albert Childs, Nate Dowlin, Brandon Emery, Calvin Hoyt, and Sean McCarthy. Chelsea led the whole game with Dowlin and Blondin driving through the paint and setting off three pointers. The Chelsea boys dominated the second half and came away with an 84-44 win. Everyone from the Chelsea team scored. Dowlin was Chelsea’s high scorer with 21 points and Blondin dumped in 18. Chelsea vs. Whitcomb The Chelsea Devils hosted Whitcomb Monday, Feb. 19, in a rescheduled game and won the match 56-47. Chelsea came out slow in the first quarter and Whitcomb played even with Chelsea throughout the first half. In the third quarter Chelsea picked up their energy and extended their lead past Whitcomb. Whitcomb narrowed Chelsea’s lead down in the fourth quarter but Chelsea dominated the second half to pull out the win. Allen was Chelsea’s high scorer with 15 points. Chelsea vs. Twinfield The Chelsea boys traveled to Twinfield for their final game of the season last Tuesday. Unfortunately the Chelsea boys never found their rhythm and they lost by four points 63-59. Despite missing coach Mike McCullough, the Devils came out strong in the first quarter and held a 12-10 lead going into the second quarter. But the second quarter was Twinfield’s best as they went on a scoring run to put the devils down by six points at the half. Twinfield led for the rest of the game, but Chelsea didn’t go down without a fight. In the third quarter both teams played even. In the fourth Chelsea tried to overcome Twinfield’s lead, at one point coming within two points. Unfortunately, Chelsea’s two baskets couldn’t match up to Twinfield’s three-pointers. Chelsea made a final attempt in the last seconds of the game when Emery and Allen each sank a three. But it was too little too late as the Trojans sent home the Devils with a four point loss. Allen led Chelsea with 15 points, Emery added 14 and Dowlin had 12 to lead Chelsea’s offense. Chelsea finished their season with a 13-7 record and will play their playoff game next week. ____________ |
