Harwood The Randolph boys played amazing defense, but couldn’t find any way to put the ball in the basket in their 44-31 defeat against Harwood at home, Monday. The Ghosts started out the game with Thomas Jacobs sinking two shots to put Randolph up by four early. Harwood answered, however, and then took the lead with four minutes to go. Down by two, Dave Cooch came in off the bench and sank a three to give Randolph back the lead, 8-7. Kyle Connolly later scored to put the Ghosts up by three, but Harwood answered to pull the gap to one. Randolph led 10-9 after the first quarter. The Highlanders hit their first three of the game right off the bat in the second, to go up by two. Jacobs answered with a put-back off the offensive glass to tie it back up at 12. Harwood then scored, and hit another trey to go up by five. The Highlanders added a foul shot and another shot at the buzzer to go up by eight at the break, 20-12. The Ghosts came out of the locker room and scored, as Ira Tillberg stole it and fed Jacobs for a lay-up. After the Highlanders answered, Mike Czok banked a three-pointer to bring Randolph within five, 22-17. Harwood then went on a 12-0 run, capping their run off with a three-pointer with three minutes left. Markus Farnham took the ball coast-to-coast for a lay-in to break the Ghosts’ cold streak. The Highlanders led 34-19 after three quarters. Randolph again came out of the break and forced the issue on Harwood. Jon White scored off an inbounds play, and Jacobs scored again on the offensive glass to bring Randolph within 11.
