Bessie M. Chase

RANDOLPH—Bessie M. Chase, 90, died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007 at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph.

She was born September 10, 1916 in Pierpoint, N. Y., the daughter of Hubert and Vina (Becker) Stark.

She attended Parishville, N.Y. schools. She married Roy L. Chase December 23, 1933 in Parishville. He died in 1979.

The Chases moved to Randolph Center in 1945, where they owned and operated a dairy farm. She worked with her husband on the farm, while raising their eight children. She later worked at Gifford Memorial Hospital in Randolph. She lived in Brookfield, Hardwick, and Stannard before moving back to Randolph in 2003.

She enjoyed gardening, raising chickens, berry picking and watching the birds. She also enjoyed making quilts for her family.

Survivors include four sons: Merle Chase of Stannard, Arnold Chase of Randolph Center, Francis Chase of Braintree and Marshall Chase of Berlin; four daughters: Rosetta Woods of Parishville, N.Y.; Christine Manning of Lakeland, Fla.; Phyllis Palmer of Childwold, N.Y.; and Iris King of Randolph; a sister Lois Niles, of Parishville, N.Y.; 25 grandchildren and many great and great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 14 at the Day Funeral home with Rev. Timothy Eberhardt officiating. Burial will be in the Brookfield Center Cemetery in the spring. Calling hours were held Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Day Funeral Home of Randolph.
