Le Vent du Nord:

Make a Day of It!

Last January, the traditional Quebecois band Le Vent du Nord brought an audience at Chandler Music Hall in Randolph to its feet with its foot-stomping, hand-clapping, good time dance and party music. Audience members called for encore after encore, reluctant to see the evening come to an end.

"We determined that we had to bring them back in a way that allowed for a longer and more in-depth experience with the band members," said Chandler’s Betsy Cantlin..

On Saturday, Feb. 24, Chandler will offer opportunities for workshops, a contra dance and dinner. Band member Benoit Bourque will offer a step-dance workshop for all ability levels, while Olivier Demers offers instruction for experienced fiddlers from 2-4 p.m. The afternoon workshop sessions, which run concurrently, will conclude with a short contra dance for all participants.

The celebration will continue with a dinner catered by The Travelin’ Willy B’s in Chandler’s upper gallery at 5:30 p.m. Participants are invited to bring instruments for a jam session before the evening concert. Le Vent du Nord will perform in Chandler’s main hall at 7:30 p.m.

"We guarantee this spirited music played by gifted musicians will warm body and soul on a cold February day!" Cantlin said.

Pre-registration and a minimum number of students are required for the workshop sessions. Reservations are also required for the dinner. Contact Kathy at the Chandler Box Office at 728-6464 or tickets@chandler-arts.org for pricing and to make reservations for any of the day’s events.
