Ghosts over Lamoille
By Cody Montgomery

The Randolph boys’ basketball team beat Lamoille last Wednesday, 57-45, but lost at U-32 last Friday, 63-51, with just eight players.

Lamoille Win

After allowing Lamoille to score the first hoop of the game, the Randolph boys went on a 12-0 run over the next seven minutes. With 17 seconds left, Lamoille finally scored, but was answered with a three-pointer by Kyle Connolly.

Lamoille immediately cut into Randolph’s lead in the second quarter by hitting back-to-back threes, and then by following that up with a hoop off a turnover. With five minutes left in the quarter, Randolph led by only three, 17-14. However, David Cooch and Zack Allard both scored lay-ups to put the Ghosts ahead by seven, and Randolph led 25-18 at halftime.

Lamoille once against came out firing as they cut the lead to three early in the third quarter. The Ghosts then went on a 14-2 run to extend their lead to 15, 39-24. Randolph led 45-31 after three quarters.

Jon White hit a fast-break lay-up and a pair of free throws to put the Ghosts up by 17 early in the fourth quarter. Both offenses went back and forth, but the Lancers were able to make up some ground by the end of the game.

White had 17 points, Thomas Jacobs had 13 points and 10 rebounds, Connolly had eight points, Allard seven, Connor Fowler and Markus Farnham four, and Cooch and Ira Tillberg two. White, Connolly, and Farnham all had five rebounds apiece.

U-32 Loss

The Randolph boys lost to U-32 63-51 last Friday, but played exceptionally well, with only eight players. Senior starter Ira Tillberg pulled a groin muscle in the previous game against Lamoille.

Things were back and forth early and often in the first quarter, with six lead changes and U-32 getting the better of it with a 15-13 lead after the first period. U-32 finished the second quarter on a 9-3 run, finishing ahead, 29-22.

Randolph came out at halftime firing, as Jacobs, White, and Farnham all hit shots to bring the Ghosts within one. The Raiders, however, had other things on their mind, as they went on a 16-5 run the rest of the way. Randolph trailed after three, 45-33.

The Randolph boys worked hard to get the score down to eight points, but were forced to foul, putting the game out of reach.

White led Randolph with 15 points, Jacobs had 13 points, Farnham had nine and seven rebounds, Connolly had eight points and eight rebounds, and Mike Czok had six points.

The Randolph boys played Oxbow at home yesterday (Wednesday) and Harwood, also at home, on Friday.

J.V. Games

The junior varsity squad also lost to U-32, 65-31. The high scorers were Nik Bent with 12 points and Josh Ferris with six.
