To all the parents who don’t have a special needs child: Just picture if you were my son or one of the others. I would like to introduce you to my son Justin,. He is around adults all the time. He has a one-on-one. He is a very sweet boy. The kids at school play with him. I have two other kids. OK I am seeing something very hurtful and I have been seeing this for years. When he gets home, he has respite or stays home. When he stays home I have to be his buddy. He feels like no one likes him. Because no one calls. So we go skiing. We play in his room or he plays with my other kids’ friends. I know a lot of parents who have kids like mine who go home wondering who they are going to play with. Well what I am going to ask from all the parents out there is to teach your kids to be kind. Just call one of these kids and talk. Or have a play date. You don’t realize—that means the world to them. Because they know they can count on you to make them happy! The world would be a better place then. Millie Green Randolph ____________ |
