WHITE RIVER JCT.—Donald A. Campbell, 79, died January 16, 2007 at his home in White River Jct. He was born December 21, 1927, in Barnard, son of Clayton and Laura (Dutton) Campbell. He attended Locust Creek School and graduated from Whitcomb High School in Bethel in 1945. He spent two years in the U.S. Army, serving in Germany, in the early 50’s. He was a manager of the Windsor County Feed and Supply of So. Royalton, until back problems forced him to retire. He was a member of the Silver Lake Grange, the National Grange, taking the 7th degree in Portland, Maine; the Heartland Lions Club of So. Royalton, where he was a past president; the Casscadnac Fish and Game Club of So. Royalton, and the Hartford Elks Club. He was coach of the Babe Ruth team, umpired many of the little league games for the So. Royalton team and managed the men’s town team for a year or two. He loved to hunt, fish, play cribbage, throw horseshoes, line bees and hunt ginseng. On February 10, 1986, he married Nancy E. Martin of Bethel. They lived in the "pink" house in So. Tunbridge and later moved to Sharon. That marriage ended in divorce. They were re-married November 2, 2006 and made their home at Tall Timbers in White River Jct. Survivors include his wife of White River Jct.; a son, Terence L. Campbell, of Sharon; a sister, Louise Robinson of Springfield; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by five brothers: Francis, Raleigh, Clyde, Bernard, and Gordon; and a sister, Irene Burke of Woodstock. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VNA & Hospice, White River Jct., Vt. 05001; or the So. Royalton Rescue Squad, in care of Corinne Ingraham, 52 Roberts Road, So.
