January 10th was a sad day for Phoenix fans as the Williamstown Devils left the court with the win, 63-49. Although the Phenix did put up a fight Sharon Coach Ellis says "They beat us fair and square and we couldn’t stop them; they out-rebounded us, so I see that we need to work on our defense. But we’ll get better." The game was extraordinarily fast paced, with a basket by both teams in the first few minutes, but Sharon just wasn’t playing their best game. Even with the added excitement of Junior Luke Battey rejoining the team after a torn ACL, Sharon just couldn’t keep up with the Devils as players like #32 Dan Shangraw scored 20 points single handedly. But as the saying goes, you win some you loose some, and Coach Ellis’ parting comment was "We’ll be back." ____________ |
