Randolph Wrestlers Finish Well

In Otter Valley Tournament

There were four place finishers for the Ghost Wrestlers who attended the annual Otter Valley Tournament this past Saturday over in Brandon. The team as a whole came out with a fourth place finish out of many teams competing that day. Many individuals succeeded as well.

100th Win

Seth Dezan received his 100th career win on Saturday at the Otter Valley Tournament. Dezan began wrestling his freshman year and has worked hard to get where he is, and he has attended a few camps over his wrestling career. Dezan is home schooled, and plans to attend college in New York. Randolph is very proud of the three seniors, who have all hit their 100th wins in this season, Ben Adams, Wes Simpson and now Dezan. Congratulations boys!

First Place Finisher

Seth Dezan received a first place finish on Saturday. He had a bye until semis because of a small weight class. In semis, Dezan wrestled against Joe Lacross from Mill River. Dezan defeated him with a decision of 9 to 1. In finals he wrestled D.J. Legacy of Mt. Anthony and pinned him in the 4th period with a pin time of 4 minutes, 58 seconds.

Second Place Finisher

Wrestling at 119 pounds was Wes Simpson. In his first match he wrestled Colby Fraizer of Otter Valley and defeated him with a pin time of 1 minute 17 seconds. Next he wrestled Jacob Losse of Essex. W. Simpson defeated Losse with a decision of 14 to 7. Moving onto finals, he wrestled John Andrews of Mt. Anthony, but was defeated in the second period. W. Simpson received a second place finish.

Two 3rd Place Finishers

Ben Adams received a third place finish this past Saturday. In his first match he wrestled David Posey of Colchester and defeated him with a pin time of 1 minute, 23 seconds. In semis, Adams wrestled Jesse Garrett of Mt. Mansfield, but was defeated in the first period. Moving on to wrestle in consi semis, he wrestled Allen Emanualson and defeated him with a decision of 5 to 1. Then, in consi finals, Adams wrestled Erick Becker of Otter Valley and defeated him with a pin time of 2 minutes, 6 seconds, giving him his third place finish. Also finishing third on Saturday was Matt Simpson. M. Simpson’s first match of the day was Kyle Graham of Mt. Mansfield. M. Simpson was defeated with a minor decision. Next he wrestled C.J. Harvey from Fair Haven. M. Simpson defeated him with a technical fall. After that he wrestled Mike Hennessy of Essex, and defeated him with a pin time of 2 minutes 26 seconds. In consi finals, M. Simpson wrestled Kyle Graham again, and defeated him with a score of 16 to 4.

Other Matches

Wrestling at 130 pounds was David Maxfield. His first match was against Shawn Kimball of Mt. Abe. Maxfield was defeated in the second period. His next match was against Todd Kitchen of Fair Haven. Maxfield defeated him with a pin time of 1 minute, 50 seconds. He then wrestled Travis Garrett of Mt. Mansfield, but was defeated by a decision.

Stephen Bent wrestled against Cole Frost in his first match of the day. Bent was defeated in the last period. In his next match he wrestled Craig Cook and defeated him with a technical fall. Moving on, Bent wrestled Shane Bouchard of Otter Valley. Bent was defeated in the third period.

Randolph has a break this weekend, and then it’s off to the Classics for the next weekend.
