The Randolph boys basketball team went 1-1 last week with a loss vs. Mount Abraham at home 57-47, and a win at Peoples Academy 58-43. Mt. Abe Loss The Eagles of Mount Abraham quickly jumped out to a 12-2 lead through the first four minutes of the game. Markus Farnham scored five points, including a trey to close the gap to eight points. At the end of the first quarter, Randolph trailed 15-7. Connor Fowler had four rebounds in the first for Randolph. The Ghosts worked hard in the beginning of the second quarter to bring the gap to within five points, but made some costly mistakes to give the Eagles an 11-point halftime lead, 26-15. Randolph came out at halftime firing as Jon White nailed a three. Fowler put Randolph within four after taking the ball to the hoop on consecutive possessions. Mt. Abe then went on a 15-4 run of their own. The Eagles extended their lead to 15 at the end of the third period as the score was 41-26. Randolph’s offense came alive in the final quarter as they scored 21 points compared to the Eagles’ 16. Dave Cooch came off the bench to score seven in the final couple of minutes for Randolph. The Ghosts came within eight of Mt. Abe, but ended up losing 57-47. White had 13 points, Fowler had 12 points and 11 rebounds, Thomas Jacobs had eight points and six rebounds, Farnham and Cooch had seven points each, and Ira Tillberg had two. Peoples Win The Randolph boys traveled to Peoples Academy last Friday and won 58-43. Thomas Jacobs had an outstanding effort, getting the double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Jon White had 16 points and Markus Farnham had eight. The Ghosts trailed at halftime, but came out in the second half and played well offensively. Defensively, Randolph held Peoples to only four points in the final quarter. JV The JV boys also defeated Peoples Academy. Jason Hicks had 15 points and 14 rebounds. He also had several steals as well. Sam Lyons had 19 points. The Ghosts play Mt. Abe away Friday, Jan. 12 and Harwood away Monday, Jan. 15. The Harwood game starts early; J.V. at 5:30 with varsity beginning around 7:15. Randolph’s record is 4-5. ____________ |
