CVPS Takes Over

Rochester Lines

About 1,400 customers in Rochester, Hancock and Granville had their electrical service interrupted for about six hours Sunday, Jan. 7 during a planned power outage.

At that time, CVPS crews decommissioned the old Rochester Electric Light and Power substation and transferred that load onto the CVPS Rochester substation.

CVPS, Vermont's largest power company, has completed the purchase of the 100-year-old Rochester Electric Light and Power from its owners, Tom and Sandy Pierce. The company had one employee, who has been offered a similar job with CVPS.
