Exchange Program:

More Magic

Ten Japanese students arrived recently in Randolph as part of the Shizukuishi exchange program, which was started in the fall of 1991 by Carolyn Covalt who grew up in Randolph.

She became an American Cultures teacher in Shizukuishi, a town of about 20,000 people in northern Honshu. She brought 10 Japanese students and one teacher to Randolph that first year.

Randolph students have visited Shizukuishi three times and plan to go again this summer.

For the Shizukuishi students, the trip is funded by their school. The trip for Randolph students is paid for by fundraising and other community support.

There will be a community potluck dinner at RUHS this Friday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. to meet the visitors. Bring a dish to share.
