Philip L. Fowler RUTLAND—Philip L. Fowler, 73, died peacefully December 26, 2006 at his winter home in Ft. Lonesome, Fla. following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Winchester, Mass. October 28, 1933, the son of Marcus Fowler and Lillian Knapp. A graduate of Rutland High School, he served in the Navy Seabees. He loved hunting, fishing, skiing and spending time at a family camp in Braintree. For decades, he was a member of the Otter Ski Patrol at Pico Peak, serving as patrol leader for many years. For most of his adult life, he worked for Randall Mechanical. After retirement, he bought and sold antiques, thoroughly enjoying the auctions and many people he met. He loved traveling the country in his motor home. He was predeceased by his first wife Lorraine Beauchamp. Survivors include his wife, Jan; two sons, Robert Fowler of Alexandria, Va. and Peter Fowler of Middleboro, Mass.; a daughter, Joan Grimes of Pittsford; and four grandchildren: Corbin Fowler, Isaac Fowler, Stephanie Grimes and Sarah Grimes. A memorial service will be held at the Veterans Cemetery in Randolph Center at the convenience of the family. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Cancer Society, 12810 Magnolia Dr., Tampa, Fla. 33612. Zipperer’s Funeral Home in Ruskin, Fla. was in charge of arrangements. ____________ |
