Richard G. White

WILLIAMSTOWN—Richard G. White, 86, died Sunday evening, Dec. 24, 2006, at his home. He was born April 24, 1920, in Sharon, the son of George E. and Mae (Hanley) White.

In 1938 he married Virginia Brown of Sharon. He served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater during World War II. Richard worked at Dewey’s Mills in Quechee, the Central Vermont Railroad in White River Junction, and later was the proprietor of a grocery store in Waterbury. He also ran dairy farms, first in Sharon and then in Randolph Center. Before his retirement he worked as a self-employed carpenter.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his two sons, Donald R. White and his wife Marilyn of Montpelier, and Bryan G. White and his wife Amy of Orange; a daughter, Sandra W. Millette and her husband Richard of Chichester, N.H.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife Virginia.

There will be no public calling hours. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at the Pine Hill Cemetery in Sharon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice, Home Health Division, 600 Granger Road, Barre, Vt., 05641.

The Boardway & Cilley Funeral Home on Main Street in Chelsea is in charge of arrangements.
