The most wonderful season of the year is upon us and I bask in its beauty, sights, sounds, tastes, fragrances and touch. With the joy of experiencing comes the obligation to bring to others its special blessings and enjoyment. Do I practice its intent? Do I lift another’s burdens, encourage the discouraged, feed the hungry not only temporal food but love and acceptance and forgiveness? Do I visit the lonely; do I bring joy to the shut-in? Do I prepare treats just for friends or for the neglected? Do I make music only to please my ear or do I bring it to those who can no longer sing or play their instrument? Do I enjoy the myriad of sights and lights or do I share it with others who lack transportation? Do I encircle some lonely soul with a hug of love? Do I keep Christmas in a selfish, self-satisfying manner or do I reflect the life and teaching of the One who was born in a manger? Think about it. Clara C. Jobes Randolph ____________ |
