Chelsea Boys’ 1st Home Game
By Mary Childs

Last Saturday the Chelsea Devils played an intense, patient, aggressive defensive game against West Rutland and came away with their second win of the season. When Chelsea took to the road to West Rutland a couple weeks ago, they came home with a devastating 64-37 loss, but the second time around Chelsea would take the game.

Chelsea came out strong, intense and with a new strategy. By switching up their defense, West Rutland’s offensive never had the chance to run the score up. Throughout the first half, the game stayed close and kept the crowd on edge. The teams broke for halftime with the Chelsea Devils trailing by three points.

The Red Devils broke loose in the third quarter outscoring West Rutland to take the lead. The constant dish to Zeb Allen from Chelsea’s guards helped the offensive end thrive. Brandon Emory also sent the ball to the net before leaving the game at the end of the quarter due to injury.

West Rutland never recovered as Chelsea dominated the fourth quarter to come away with the 50-44 win. Allen was Chelsea’s high scorer with 19 points as Emory added 10. Chelsea’s record improves to 2-1.
