Two Randolph Lego Teams Represent Vermont at Expo On Saturday, Dec. 2, the Green Mt. Lego Team and the Maple Lego Stars represented Vermont at the NH 2006 Nano Quest Expo sponsored by the Junior FIRST Lego League at the Hollis Brookline High School in Hollis, N.H. The Green Mt. Lego League team members are Gabe Strand, Paul Strand, James Goldsworthy, Krystin Skoda, Madison Skoda, Alfie Rylander, Jamie Flaherty, and Zack Flaherty. They won the "Best Macro Movement" award for their Mother Gentoo penguin with feathers blowing in the Antarctic wind. Coach Mary Kay Dreher said, "We all had a positive and educational experience and it was so much fun to be with kids who really like to build with Legos. I’m grateful to Deb Skoda for pitching in and really supporting the team throughout the season. I could not have done it without her." The Maple Lego Stars are Addie Luke-Currier, Mikaela Luke-Currier, Daniel Rosen, Ethan Johnson, Ethan Rotman, and Allison Rylander. They won the "Best Nano Movement" award. The reviewers seemed impressed by these first-graders and their moving model of honey at the nano-level. This team also completed a community service project, collecting enough money to send two gift packages of bees to a struggling family through Heifer International. Team mentors were John Skoda and Hannah Johnson. "All the kids and parents seem to have fun and learn a lot," commented coach Susan Currier. "I hope for an even bigger turn out next year."
