The RUHS ‘CSO’ Still Lives! Next Meeting Is Dec. 12 A small but committed core of Randolph Union High School administrators and parents is working to revive the school’s CSO-Community School Organ-ization. Community members Pauline Garner, Sonny Holmes and Chuck Webb met with co-principals John Holmes and Judy Hynes November 16 to discuss the need for a CSO and the focus of what the members’ involvement would be. Holmes passed out a draft proposal of the charge of the CSO, along with a list of possible activities for members to take on. Suggestions included reviewing the program of studies, the student handbook, and occasional policy review. There was also a discussion about setting up an endowment in conjunction with the Alumni Association for scholarships and/or gifts to the school. Holmes also suggested that the CSO members meet the candidates for the co-principal’s position, after they tour the building with students. There was a general discussion about how to get news about the CSO to the community. Suggestions included the RUHS web-site, the school newspaper, the local paper, the ParentLink, and memo lines on the report cards. The group is also interested in pursuing a sign board for the front area of the school. Everyone thought that a board with black letters on a white background would be nice and not as expensive as an electronic sign. Holt said that he thought that there was about $400 in the CSO budget from past years, and another $500-700 in the scholarship account. The next meeting will be Tuesday, Dec. 12, 6:30 p.m. in Room 6 at RUHS. Hynes and Holmes will provide examples of the program of studies, student handbook, etc. ____________ |
