Hawk's Hill
Demo. Forest
Hosts Visitors
On Tuesday

Positive changes are coming to the woods at the Hawk's Hill Demonstration Forest in East Barnard!

The public is invited to join a New England Forestry Foundation forester for a tour of the Demonstration Forest on Tuesday, Dec. 12 at 2 p.m.

Here is an opportunity for community residents and others who are interested to see how a forest responds to careful harvesting, as managed for years by the legendary Richard Brett.

You will learn to identify a variety of tree species found in the forest and see how the removal of some trees promotes the growth of others.

These timber harvests are part of the Forestry Foundation's sustainability plans, providing wildlife habitat, clean water, clean air and recreational opportunities for community residents.

For a map of Hawk's Hill Demonstration Forest, visit our website www.newenglandforestry and go to "Find a forest near you."

Directions: From East Barnard village, drive north for .2 mile and and take left fork uphill on Walker Hill Road, through sawmill to end of road. Look for signs.
