Robert J. McKinney

BETHEL—Robert (Bobby) J. McKinney, 75, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2006. He died at his home surrounded by his family and closest friends.

During his illness he was cared for by his son-in-law Rick Dorson and his daughters, Christine McKinney and Beth McKinney.

He was born June 14, 1931 in Boston, Mass. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the U.S. Army Signal Corp, as a photographer.

He graduated from Newman Preparatory in Boston, Mass. and attended Boston College. He went on to receive a Masters plumbers license and served this trade faithfully in both the Boston area and Central Vermont. He became a working class humanitarian as he helped and served so many with his skills as both a tradesman and political activist.

He believed in living the simple life because, "in the end, that’s all there is."

He was predeceased by his wife, Carolyn Babcock McKinney.

Survivors include his daughters Christine McKinney of East Bethel and Beth McKinney of Montpelier; his two granddaughters, Lucia McKinney and Arian Lewis; and his son-in-laws Rick Dorson of East Bethel and Spencer Lewis of Bethel Gilead.
