DUI/Injury Is Charged A 21-year-old Braintree woman has been charged with DUI, with serious injury resulting, following a head-on accident that totaled a van full of people, on Route 14 in Royalton just after midnight Nov. 18. Cited to court on the charge was Genie Bent, who was southbound on Route 14, about one-half mile north of the intersection of Route 107, when her Ford F-150 pickup allegedly crossed the centerline. Police said Bent’s pickup struck a northbound 2003 Chevrolet van driven by Lucille A. Boule, 41, of Randolph Center. After the impact, both vehicles came to "a position of uncontrolled rest" on the east side of the roadway; both were totaled. Boule, who suffered a serious leg injury, had to be extricated from the van, police said. She was transported to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, where she was listed in satisfactory condition Monday. The six passengers in her van suffered various injuries, none of them life-threatening, according to a release from state police. Neither Bent nor her passenger, 22-year-old Chad Kavanaugh of Braintree, were injured. Police said that investigation showed that Bent was operating the truck under the influence of alcohol. She was taken into custody and processed for DUI with serious injury resulting. Investigation into the crash continues. Tprs. Farmer, Duggan, and Martin, and Sgt. Helfant cooperated in the response and investigation. |
