Call for Info Issued
For Unsolved Murder

Five years after 28-year-old Dean Webster was found murdered in the yard of his remote Rochester home, state police in Royalton have issued a new appeal for information regarding the unsolved homicide.

Webster’s body was found in the yard of his home on Sky Hollow Road in Rochester on the evening of Saturday, Nov. 17. He was last seen alive at noon the prior day.

A neighbor driving by his home the evening of Nov. 16 noticed all the lights were blazing in his home—an unusual occurrence. All the lights were still on at 6:30 p.m. the following day, when a friend found Webster’s body.

A Rutland native who had lived in Rochester only a few years, Webster lived alone in the home he was building. A licensed journeyman who was employed by Commercial Piping, Inc., Webster was not working in the fall of 2001 due to a work-related injury.

Det. Sgt. Todd Illingworth of the Royalton barracks issued the new call for information.

Anyone with information is asked to call the state police in Royalton at 234-9933 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-427-8477. Crime Stoppers has a reward of $2000 for information that leads to the resolution of the case.
