With Pellet Boiler?

Vermont Technical College’s plan to heat the former Randolph Center School building with a pellet boiler will be reviewed by the Randolph Development Review Board (DRB) at a Tuesday, Nov. 28 hearing.

According to Zoning Administrator Mardee Sanchez, the proposed installation would include a small building with a "metal-bestos" chimney stack and two pellet silos.

The building is now called the "VTC Red School House."

The top of the stack, she said, would be at about the level of the bottom of the second-floor windows, and plans indicate the silos would be about the height of the building eves.

The proposal needs site plan and local Act 250 review from the DRB, and will also need Act 250 approval from the District 3 Environmental Commission.

Subdivision

The only other item on the DRB’s Nov. 28 agenda is a two-lot sub-division request from James and Sharon Sault for property on South Main Street in the RU5 (rural use, five-acre minimum) and CT (civic-tourist) districts.

The proposed new lots "far exceed" the minimum lot-size requirements, Sanchez said.

Next Tuesday’s 7 p.m. hearing will be in room 109 of the "VTC Red School House."
