Let's Move
The Moose

My daughter Holly calls them swamp donkeys. A friend, at the scene of a fatal tangle between a moose and a motor vehicle, said that the mortally wounded animal was so covered with ticks that the skin wasn't even visible.

A father in Montgomery saw his son's grief after best friends died in another road accident involving, of course, a moose. Forests are suffering because of the destructive foraging these walking caricatures must do to survive as their numbers increase.

The number of moose is growing and, animal rights activists be damned, these critters are not following the rules of the road.

The hunting season for moose is expected to diminish their numbers, but is this enough? Evacuation, that ís an idea. 144 fatal encounters is too many. We transport incarcerated Vermonters to Virginia. Can't we ship our moose to somewhere that humans haven't built roads?
