Nice To See
Media Frankness

Thank you for your brave, honest and to-the-point editorial (11/26). You prove that there is still hope for frankness and honesty in the media.

Every week since 911 news comes out about how the administration and the Pentagon have been lying or misleading the voters and our elected representatives. Perfect examples are the WMD push to war, the way the government withheld facts about Pat Tillman's (NFL star) death by friendly fire, the withheld facts about Sgt. Patrick McCaffery's death at the hands of Iraqi National guardsmen, and of course the Republican family values pioneer former representative Mark Foley, chairman of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children (HCMEC).

Patriotism is not about quietly going along with the lies; it is about screaming for the truth so we can be an informed electorate. A new administration can begin to repair the tarnished reputation of a once internationally respected democracy.
