Shirley B. Lewis

FAIRLEE—Shirley B. Lewis, 82, died Saturday afternoon, Oct. 28, 2006 at Springfield Health and Rehabilitation Center in Springfield.

She was born Aug. 8, 1924 in Bethel, the daughter of Gerald K. and Gladys H. (Barnes) Bowen. She attended the Old Church School in Bethel and graduated from Whitcomb High School in 1941. She had lived in Bethel for 21 years, then Randolph for 45 years, until moving to Fairlee in 1990.

She had worked at Van Raalte and Merrimaids in Randolph until retiring in 1986. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, sewing, flowers, reading, sporting events, keeping her home and being with her family.

Survivors include two sons, Dan Lewis of Randolph and Michael Lewis of Fairlee; a daughter, Patricia Fields of Randolph; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her brother, Gerald "Jack" Bowen and sister, Elizabeth Dow.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 1 at the Day Funeral Home, in Randolph, with Rev. Ronald E. Rilling, officiating. Burial followed at Pleasant View Cemetery in Randolph.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Gifford Medical Center, P.O. Box 2000, Randolph, Vt. 05060. Arrangements are by the Day Funeral Home.
