BARNARD—Ruth L. Porter, 90, of Barnard, died Monday evening, Oct. 30, 2006 in Barnard.

She was born Aug. 8, 1916 in South Royalton, the daughter of John A. and Arlene (Stickney) Johnstone. She attended Barnard schools, and had lived in Barnard for many years.

She married Erwin Porter in Bethel July 1, 1946. He died in 1975. She was a faithful woman of prayer who was a member of the Silver Lake Chapel in Barnard, and enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include her son, Ronald Porter, and his wife, Regina, of Barnard; a sister, V. Louise Porter of Barnard; three grandchildren: Ashley Proft, of Bethel, and Alicia and Arlana Porter, both of Barnard; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Inez Hull; and two brothers, Merle and Maurice Johnstone.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, Nov. 4 at 11 a.m. at the Silver Lake Cemetery in Barnard, with Pastor Dan Bartlett, officiating. There are no calling hours.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Barnard Fire Department, Barnard, Vt. 05031. Arrangements are by the Day Funeral Home in Randolph.
