The board of the Windsor Northwest Supervisory Union (WNWSU) has decided not to extend the two-year contract of the WNWSU's business manager, Pat Regan. The contract expired last June 30. According to WNWSU board chair David Allen, the board made its decision during an hour-and-a-half executive session last Monday, Oct. 29, pursuant to an earlier recommendation by WNWSU superintendent Tim Mock that Regan not be kept on at the union office. The reasons for Mock's recommendation were not made public. Allen noted that Regan's contract specified his right to a hearing before the WNWSU board in the event of non-extension of his contract. The Herald has learned that the board met two times in executive session before last Monday to discuss a "personnel matter." The first meeting took place on Oct. 18 and lasted over five hours. The second meeting on Oct. 23 lasted over seven hours. Although WNWSU board members won't cite specifics about these meetings, a number of sources have indicated that they involved Regan's employment by the WNWSU. It is also known that the WNWSU and Regan have retained legal counsel regarding the issue. For a number of weeks now, Regan has not been working at the WNWSU office. Instead, the WNWSU has contracted Ollie Jacobs, who was the WNWSU business manager several years ago, to carry out the function of business manager temporarily. According to Allen, the WNWSU will presently consider a number of options for the permanent staffing of its business office. |
