Chelsea Girls to Quarterfinals
By Mary Childs

On Tuesday, Oct. 24, the sixth seeded Chelsea Lady Devils hosted 11th seeded Long Trail School of Dorset and came out on top with a 3-1 victory. Chelsea dominated from minute one until the horn went off.

The Red Devil’s offense started out great with shot after shot just barely missing the goal. The Devils first goal came from the duo of Brenda Manning and Olivia Conner. Manning took a beautiful shot on goal that skimmed Conner before reaching the back of the net. The offense continued to dominate the game as Robyn Kennedy, Lindsey Smith and Althea Spencer zigzagged passes back and forth to each other.

In the second half Chelsea continued to put on the pressure. Marisa Osgood tallied the Devils’ second goal when she slipped a fumbled ball across the line giving the Ladies a 2-0 advantage. Kim Upham added a goal of her own when she dribbled the ball from midfield past the Long Trail keeper’s hands. Long Trail scored their only goal late into the second half making the final score 3-1.

Chelsea will advance to the Quarterfinals traveling to play third seeded Black River on Friday, Oct. 27.
