News of Area Students Spencer Cook, a graduate of Whitcomb High School in Bethel, is one of 14 students from St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y. participating in the Adirondack Semester program of study this fall. This program allows students to immerse themselves full-time in the natural world, and includes extended wilderness experiences, as well as courses which examine natural history, ecology, cultural history and ethics. Caitlin E. Jacobs, a graduate of Randolph Union High School, and daughter of Janni Jacobs and Bruce Jacobs, both of the Randolph area, was recently named to the Epsilon Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa at Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y., where she is a senior majoring in biology. Rachel A. DiStefano, a senior at Randolph Union High School, has been named a Commended Student in the 2007 National Merit Scholarship Program. Josie Eddy, a graduate of Whitcomb High School and daughter of David and Laurie Eddy of Bethel, has been named a leader/Core team member of the student volunteer program at Saint Michael’s College in Winooski, where she is a sophomore majoring in mathematics. Eddy heads the Little Brother/Little Sister program, which matches students at Saint Michael’s in one-on-one relationships with children in need of positive role models. ____________ |
