Barreda Working On West Coast

David Barreda, son of Louise Barreda and the late Victor Barreda of South Royalton, recently moved to San Francisco, Calif. to accept a new position as a photographer and multi-media producer with the San Jose Mercury News.

A graduate of South Royalton High School and Middlebury College, Barreda is currently completing his masters thesis from the University of Missouri. During his high school and undergraduate college years, he worked as a photographer for The Herald of Randolph.

Barreda’s 2004 photography internship at the Miami Herald was followed by a trial-by-fire football season as a staff photographer in Tallahassee, Fla. He spent most of 2005 working as a staff photographer for the Valley News in Lebanon, N.H., and went on to work as a staff photographer at the Denver Rocky Mountain News in Colorado.

Barreda, who says his new position is "a dream job," has won a number of awards over the years, and recently had one of his news photographs chosen for the MSNBC Photo of the Week web page.
