Letter Was
Revealing

Chris Hemond’s letter to the editor last week says a lot.

First it indicates to me that not all is well on the Town Hall committee. Fox is not moving fast enough to satisfy those who are anxious to spend the town’s money on one single project. As a past selectman I believe it is Mr. Fox’s job to make sure that he spends the town’s funds doing what is most needed, as is mandated by the state and what is necessary to maintain roads as well as run the town office and the town employees. I think a good leader looks at all the projects of the town and gives them priority as need and money allow, and from my view it appears to me that Mr. Fox does that.

Being on the select board takes time and patience, and listening to others is a basic requirement. Maybe Mr. Hemond doesn’t recognize these skills in Neal.

As for Mr. Hemond’s comments that Neal wanted sole credit for the reduction in Bethel’s share of the Church Street Bridge project, I do know that he visited Montpelier on a number of occasions to testify before the Transportation Committee on Bethel’s behalf and at every legislature breakfast for more than two years he always brought up the Church Street Bridge project to the legislators. Therefore I know with his experience and knowledge of how the process works, if elected, he would put forth the same effort for all of the towns he represents.
