WR Craft Center Open House

The White River Craft Center, housed in the historic Kimball House at 50 Randolph Avenue in Randolph, will hold its annual Open House Saturday, Nov. 4, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Strides continue to be made in the restoration of this significant structure, and the Open House is an excellent opportunity to tour the 1887 Queen Anne Victorian, the former summer home of Robert J. Kimball.

The craft center is currently the home of the Vermont Weavers Guild, Kimball House Wordsmiths, a rug hooking group, the Central Vermont Recovery Center, stained glass, pottery, weaving and woodworking classes, and a community service site.

The Randolph Technical Career Center’s Building Trades class, with instructor Karl Miller, has spent a great deal of time dovetailing new building technology with historic house restoration. The slate roof with copper eaves has been completed and a new stair tower accesses the second and third floors, needed for labor and industry requirements. Exterior improvements continue to be made as well.

During the Open House, visitors will see craft demonstrations and a craft sale for early Christmas shopping in support of local artisans. Light refreshments will be served.
