Chelsea Girls Lose 2, Tie 1
By Mary Childs

Last Thursday the Chelsea girls traveled to Rochester and lost 4-3 on the Rockets’ senior night. The Lady Devils came out to a great start, scoring twice within the first five minutes. However, the Rochester Rockets answered the Devils with two goals of their own, leading the teams into the half with a 2-2 tie.

In the second half a Rochester player sent the ball over the line, giving the Rockets a 3-2 advantage. The Chelsea Devils retied the game, but Rochester scored again with seven minutes remaining in the game.

Loss to Craftsbury

On Monday the Chelsea girls endured the long bus ride to Craftsbury and came home with a 2-1 over-time loss.

Craftsbury scored the first goal of the game in the first half and for Chelsea it was a battle to the end. Chelsea’s Althea Spencer scored off a direct kick late in the second half to tie the game, 1-1.

Despite Chelsea’s effort, Craftsbury scored the winning goal six minutes into overtime, giving Chelsea their fifth loss of the season

Tie against Twinfield

On the rainy afternoon of October 17, the Chelsea Lady Devils traveled to Twinfield and came away with an overtime tie with Twinfield on their senior night.

The Lady Devils jumped to a 1-0 lead in the first half when Olivia Conner sent the ball to the back of the net. The Trojans answered back with a goal of their own going into the half with a 1-1 tie.

The second half was a great defensive game for both teams while the game remained tied. The regulation time ended at 1-1, and Chelsea went into overtime, something not new to the team. Despite several looks Chelsea had on the goal they were unable to put it to the net and came away with the tie.

The Lady Devil’s regular season ends with a 6-5-3 record.
