I am appalled at the amount of death and destruction we have brought to Iraq. While our intentions may have been good, we went with the arrogance of military might and the assurance they we alone had all truth and what was best for all the rest of the world. Well, we have opened the door to Hell and shoved in, not Saddam, but all the men, women, and children of that country. Our continued presence there is only adding fuel to the fire we started. It is time for us to leave. It is also time for us to get rid of the arrogant leaders in Washington who insisted that we needed to invade Iraq. However, let’s not forget that arrogance can fit anyone whom we elect. We need to vote and then keep a close eye on the Congress women and men we have elected. Am I proud to be an American? Not right now. But this is my country, and we need to, and can, change our country’s direction in the world. Allen Hood South Royalton |
