On Ancient Roads

As a sportsman and out-doorsman I am afraid of what will take place because of the legislation sponsored by Sandra Haas regarding Class 4 roads. Many towns will abandon these roads due to a lack of money and a lack of time to get these roads properly mapped.

This is a local issue that has been handled very effectively for many years by local officials who know the situations best. In fact, the Bethel selectboard recently voted to give up a Class 4 road to nowhere at the request of abutting landowners and where it is no value to sportsmen. The selectboard demonstrated their ability to act responsibly to satisfy the obvious .

If local selectboards abandon these roads they will be lost forever and no longer available for recreational use as they are today.

Anyone interested in the outdoors and continuous use of Class 4 roads must vote to elect Neal Fox to the legislature on Nov. 7.
