RACC Plans Breakfast Discussion, Candidates Forum, Bowling Tourney

The Randolph Area Chamber of Commerce (RACC) will sponsor and/or collaborate on three community events in upcoming weeks.

A "Building Your Business" breakfast roundtable discussion planned for Wednesday, Oct. 25 at 7:30 a.m. at the Vermont Tech Enterprise Center will answer questions such as "What can a website really do for me?" and "What should a website do for me?"

This is the first in a series of discussions for building your business presented by the Randolph Area Chamber of Commerce and the Vermont Tech Enterprise enter. Facilitators will be Joan Goldstein, SBDC advisor and Internet entrepreneur and Chris Demers, Creative Director of Jazz Media.com. Pre-registration is preferred by contacting Laura Kent at lkent@vtsbdc.org or 728-9101 or the chamber at mail@randolph-chamber.com or 728-9027. A small per person fee will be charged. This event is open to all businesses or anyone thinking of going into business.

Candidates Forum

Also on Wednesday, Oct. 25, there will be a Candidates Forum at Randolph Union High School’s Murray Auditorium from 7-9 p.m. Candidates presenting their positions on current issues will include Mark MacDonald and Stephen Webster for the Vt. Senate, and David Atkinson, Patsy French, Jim Hutchinson and Bob Wolffe for the Vt. House of Representatives. Peter Nowlan will be the moderator.

Bowling Tournament

The RACC will hold its first ever Scholarship Bowling Tournament at Valley Bowl in Randolph Saturday, Nov. 4. There are three times to choose from - 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Family, friends and co-workers are encouraged to get a team together and sign up and 30 teams are needed to fill all slots.

The participation fee will entitle each entrant to three games of bowling and a chance at a cash team prize as well as door prizes. A portion of the fee will go toward the scholarship fund.

A raffle will also take place. First prize is a laptop computer from Vermont Computing ($800 value), second prize is two 2007 Red Sox tickets and deluxe coach transportation from Milne Travel ($200 value), and third prize is two 2006 season passes to Dartmouth Women’s Hockey (value unknown). Registration forms can be picked up at the chamber or Valley Bowl.

The RACC Scholarship was established this year as a way to help deserving students further their education, and as a way of giving back to the communities that support the chamber. The first recipient was Robin Poulin who graduated from Randolph Technical Career Center and RUHS.
