The Rochester Boys traveled to Concord last Friday and earned their first win of the season. In the first half Rochester had trouble getting into the groove of things, but the first quarter was very evenly matched, with Concord leading, 13-12. The same thing happened in the second period, with both teams scoring the same amount of points. Rochester had a little trouble with fouls in the first half when two key starters picked up quick fouls that had them sitting the bench during the entire second quarter. Rochester sneaked ahead and led at the half, 23-22. The third quarter was when the Rockets got their explosive offense going. Rochester outscored Concord 24-6 in the third quarter with a big contribution from junior #10 Brian Dunbar and senior Captain Kyle Wilson who had two big steals that led to easy lay-up's. Rochester held Concord scoreless until only two minutes left in the third quarter. Rochester led 47-28 at the end of the third. In the fourth quarter Concord made sort of a run with both teams scoring around 16. With the lead from the third quarter, Rochester was able to stay ahead. Everyone off Rochester's bench got some playing time and also everyone on Rochester's roster scored except one. With this big contribution from the bench Rochester kept the lead and got their first victory winning 60-44. Rochester's high scorers were Dunbar with 18 points and Wilson with 10 points, Brad Delo and Billy Wood added six apiece. Rochester's next game is Wednesday, Jan. 4, in Chelsea. By Dayna Bourassa |
