Try Distance Skating
At January Skateathon

The third annual Lake Morey Skate-athon for long distance skaters—experienced or not— will be held Sunday, Jan. 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at scenic Lake Morey in Fairlee.

Lake Morey and the Nordic Skating Center has become one of the most important centers of distance skating in the country—a sport that is quite popular in Europe.

How far can you skate in a day?

Discover your potential on the longest ice skating trail in the U.S. (four miles round trip).

Skate at your own pace with friends and family while enjoying the scenic views from Lake Morey, nestled in the Vermont hills near the Connecticut River.

Stamp your Skate-athon souvenir card each time you complete a round trip and exchange it for a certificate at the end of the day. Bring your own skates—try our Nordic skates free.

Registration is at the Lake Morey Resort at the south end of the lake. Lunch is available indoors at the resort; free hot chocolate and snacks can be found in a heated tent on the lake.

Proceeds beyond expenses benefit the Upper Valley Trails Alliance, Connecticut RiverFest, and the Montshire Skating Club.

Other coming events at Lake Morey with access to the Lake Morey Skating Trail include:

• Sunday, Jan. 8: Lake Morey WinterFest at Hulbert Outdoor Center..

• Saturday, Jan. 14:Vermont Ice Marathon, races of 1K, 5K, 25K.

• Sunday, Jan. 15: Vermont Ice Marathon 2K, 10K, 50K races.
