TUNBRIDGE— George F. "Gin" Wight, Jr., 80, died December 30, 2005 at the Vererans Administration Medical Center in White River Jct. He was born March 14, 1925 in Tunbridge, the son of George F. and Mary Elizabeth (White) Wight. He attended school in Tunbridge and South Royalton High School. He served in the US Army during World War II. On March 23, 1946 he married Minnie Russ of Tunbridge. They lived all their married life in Tunbridge. She died April 1, 2005. He worked for a few years at Dewey’s Woolen Mill in Quechee, and for the Town of Tunbridge road crew, before working 43 years as a truck driver for the Vermont Department of Transportation, retiring in 1986. Following retirement, he worked many different jobs including at Brookside Industries in Tunbridge, HEB Manufacturing in Chelsea, Corner Rail Fence Company in Tunbridge, Mark Bergeron Lawn Service and Landscaping in West Lebanon, NH; and at the Tunbridge Fairgrounds. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snow machining, four-wheeling, picking blackberries, watching the local softball and baseball games, the Boston Red Sox baseball team, New England Patriots football team and spending time visiting with his friends and neighbors. He loved the time he spent with his four grandsons and his great-grandson. Survivors include a son, Roy. G. Wight of South Royalton; two daughters, June M. Wight and Carol A. Wight, both of Tunbridge; four grandsons: Larry Wight, Alan Wight, Ryan Wight, and Tyler Wight; a great-grandson, George Kelley; a brother, Albert A. Wight of Rye, Colo.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife and a brother, Theodore F. Wight. There are no public calling hours. A funeral service will be held Friday, Jan. 6, at 1 p.m. at the Boardway & Cilley Funeral Home on Main Street in Chelsea, with Mike O’Donnell officiating. Following the service, burial will be held at the Spring Road Cemetery in Tunbridge.
